Course Description:

With an aging population, dental professionals need to be able to assess the medical status of their patients. A green light from the patient’s medical practitioner is not sufficient in today’s environment to optimize patient health and favorable procedural outcomes. This course reviews the systematic approach of a complete medical history and basic physical assessment to determine the patient’s current medical status.

At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

• Recognize their role in identifying and managing medical conditions.
• Comprehend a systematic approach to the integrative medical – dental management of the patient. 
• Determine what physical assessment, lab results, tests and imaging may assist in patient evaluation. 
• Effectively consult with the patient’s HCP (health care practitioner) to obtain required information. 
• Prevent medical emergencies in the dental office and optimize dental procedure outcomes.
