Course Description:

In Crown Lengthening and Mucogingival Surgery: Restoring the Periodontium, participants will explore the restorative side of periodontics. When rehabilitation is in order, care must be placed on ensuring a proper foundation, both in terms of sound tooth structure, and also strong gingiva. Modern day periodontics has multiple approaches to ensure long-term success of restorative cases. Whether demonstrating an osseous resective approach to gain crown height, or advanced grafting techniques to augment the gingiva, this course has a very broad scope. Participants will be exposed to both classical and contemporary surgical approaches to ensure their restorative cases are set up for success from the outset.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Identify the indications and contraindication for crown lengthening 
• Explain the different surgical modalities and approaches for crown lengthening 
• Recognize and diagnose mucogingival diseases and disorders 
• Choose the correct mucogingival surgical approach for a given clinical situation
