Seminar Topic: Placing Risk Management at the Forefront of Your Infection Prevention and Control Program
Speaker: Michelle Aube-Simmonds
Course Description:
Regardless of geographical area, every dental office requires an IPAC Program. Who decides what the IPAC standards are for Canada? IPAC standards are written by the Canadian Standards Association and each province’s dental regulatory body disperses the information to its professional members. In essence we all operate from the same standards! The dental professional’s role is to assimilate the standards into practice via a tailored IPAC program. This course will focus on ensuring your IPAC program adopts a risk management approach featuring the simplicity of risk mitigation specific to IPAC in a dental office. A major element included in this course is the record keeping portion associated with reprocessing instruments/devices. Does your practice use quality logging forms that extract the necessary data? Are you packaging and labelling every kit/instrument? Do you have a complete tracking and tracing system to know what instruments were used on what patient? Do you know DCC has a centralized area to retrieve all your logging resources? The risks are far too high to take the chance of not knowing the standards. Join this upbeat supportive course to evaluate your practices needs and set action goals to continue to strive for best practice, ultimate patient safety and safeguard the operation of the dental practice.
