Course Description:
This hands-on course provides a comprehensive guide to essential surgical techniques that will elevate your clinical skills. Participants will gain practical skills in:- Suturing Fundamentals & Socket Preservation: Discover the critical role of suturing in promoting optimal healing and minimizing procedural failure. Learn the dos and don’ts of suturing techniques while practicing on pig jaws with various suture materials. Special emphasis will be placed on suturing in socket preservation, focusing on maintaining ridge integrity and supporting predictable outcomes in post-extraction sites.
- Functional Crown Lengthening: Explore modern osseous resective surgical techniques, including precise incisions, flap design, osseous resection, and effective wound closure, tailored to functional crown lengthening cases.
- Gingival Augmentation: Master the art of free gingival grafting using submarginal and sulcular approaches to manage mucogingival disorders and prevent common complications.
- With fresh pig jaws as your “patients,” this dynamic course combines lecture and hands-on practice, covering everything from foundational techniques to advanced surgical scenarios. This course will enhance your confidence and clinical skill set.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the indications, contraindications, and techniques for gingival augmentation and crown lengthening, including post-operative management and expected outcomes.
- Identify and manage complications associated with gingival augmentation and perform simple procedures around teeth.
- Acquire skills to perform basic crown lengthening surgery with a focus on incision, flap design, and osseous resection.
- Gain insights into alveolar ridge changes post-extraction, materials and techniques for ridge preservation, and how this impacts subsequent implant placement.
- Master suturing techniques, including the selection of materials, the role of suturing in healing, and practical application to clinical scenarios.
