Course Description:

This course is a sequel to the Diagnosis of Inflammatory Periodontal Disease course. The course focuses on the moment when the patient returns for a re-evaluation following initial phase 1 non-surgical periodontal therapy. At this critical clinical juncture, important decisions need to be made about whether further therapy may be needed to treat residual periodontal disease, and about a patient's future periodontal maintenance schedule. Participants will work through cases in small group exercises and present their findings, followed by group discussion and Q&A.

Audience: Dentists

Key Learning Objectives:

• Perform the step-by-step process when conducting the evaluation of the initial therapy appointment
• Recognize the critical decisions that have to be made at this appointment
• Implement decisions to ensure the patient’s periodontal status is effectively managed
